Hong Kong 1865 96c fetched 163% over estimate |
| January 2004 |
The Famous 96 cent; Bistre Queen Victoria issue (Scott 23, Yang 18),
undoubtedly one of the most exquisite known examples of the rarest
non-variety issue of Hong Kong, was sold for HK$920,00. This is a remarkable 163% up on its pre-sale estimate of HK$300,000-400,000. This stamp was obtained by Consul General de Grosse in 1901, and put away in his collection for over a century. |
