Robert Siegel of New York remains one of the most active auctioneers this year. In their last sale of the year, an 1841 free frank cover of President William Henry Harrison fetched US$52,500, up 50% from its pre-sale estimate.

The year 2002 saw many world class collections offered for auction. Despite the economic downturn worldwide most of the sales performed better than expected with some exceeding up to 50% of pre-sale valuations.
